One of the greatest modern Catholic writers of apologetics.

Born into a high-achieving Anglican family and succeeding brilliantly at Eton and Oxford, it was as an Anglican clergyman (during the First World War years) that Knox began his celebrated conversion to Catholicism. Fr Beck describes KnoxÔÇÖs intellectual and pastoral journey and the increasing impact it had on Anglicans and Catholics alike. KnoxÔÇÖs prodigious gifts as a writer of apologetics, speaker and broadcaster, and his great work of translating the Bible into English, contributed greatly to the life of the Church and remain his lasting legacy. He died in 1957.

Father Beck is Assistant Priest of Beckenham in the Archdiocese of Southwark. He is also Dean of Studies of the Permanent Diaconate Formation Programme for nine dioceses in southern England and Wales, and Chair of the national Conference of Diaconate Directors and Deacon Delegates.
