No Greater Love: Damien, Apostle of the Lepers

This is the story of a man - Joseph de Veuster, better known as Father Damien, the 'hero of Molokai' - who devoted his life to the welfare of the lepers on the island of Molokai, in the Pacific Ocean. The conditions on the island were daunting. The lepers lived in squalour and misery.

Robert Louis Stevenson wrote of Damien: 'It was his part, by one striking act of martyrdom, to direct all men's eyes on this distressful country. At a blow and with the price of his life, he made the place illustrious and public... If ever any man brought reforms and died to bring them, it was he.'
